Rebuilding Altadena
The Eaton Fire, which occurred in January 2025, was a devastating wildfire in Altadena, California, destroying nearly 6,000 homes, 9,000 buildings, 14,000 acres, and resulting in 18 fatalities. After burning for 24 days, it became the 2nd most destructive wildfire in California history.
In the early days, community circulated spreadsheets with donation links quickly spread to get direct need to those in urgent need. We chose to donate* $500 to two campaigns by local businesses for their recovery and rebuilding efforts. The first to Rhythms of the Village, a family owned business and cultural center located in Altadena since 2013. The second to Wright Family Childcare, a home based childcare business.
*Donations made from personal funds.
